Article #5: Rethinking the Lunch Box
I have seen candy and chocolate bars starting to trickle into lunch boxes. While having an occasional treat is certainly okay, I ask that parents please consider refraining from sending candy to school. Students, although always encouraged to eat their healthiest snacks first, always gravitate towards these sugary treats first (it’s hard to resist chocolate!!). But young students need healthy snacks to fuel their bodies and brains for the school day. Fruits, vegetables, yogurt, cheese, and grain products are perfect snacks to fuel a learning mind.
